In Statement A (March 21), Lapid actively joined a legal petition to block the firing of Shin Bet chief Ronen Bar, describing the dismissal as being made under severe conflict of interest and for extraneous reasons. In Statement B (April 20), Lapid explicitly states that the government is permitted to fire Ronen Bar ('לממשלה מותר לפטרו'), provided it is done through a proper legal procedure — a position that is fundamentally incompatible with petitioning the court to prevent that very firing. While Statement B adds conditions (proper procedure, court approval, no interference with the Qatar-gate investigation), Lapid's acknowledgment that dismissal is permissible stands in direct tension with his earlier legal action seeking to block it.
